Dotti Potts is a home-based business owned by husband and wife team Sandra & Gavin Silberman. The Silbermans now live in the city of Barrie just north of Toronto. They share their home with their daughters Meira and Talia, and two ginger cats Peaches & Corona.
Sandra started creating in clay in South Africa 1993, even then, her pots were decorated with lots of dots. Dots adorn almost everything she creates. Her fetish with dots made her decision in calling her business Dotti Potts.
Sandra & Gavin immigrated to Canada from South Africa in 1993. In 1999 the Silbermans' decided to leave the fast paced city life of Toronto and relocate their home and business to Muskoka.
"Dotti Potts are happy, with a sense of humor designed to make people smile, and look on the bright side of life!" Says Sandra. In 2005 Sandra introduced a new line of work, a cream coloured monochromatic line of pottery.
All the pottery is made using porcelain clay, which makes them very durable, chip resistant and good for everyday use. Dotti Potts are made to be used and admired. They are up lifting to the user, wear well and perform a great function. Items may be placed in both the microwave and dishwasher.
Many production techniques are employed in the Dotti Potts studio. They include, hand building, slab work, carving, stamping, hand casting (from all original clay models) and wheel throwing.
Sandra is innovative & creative and is constantly coming up with new ideas to enhance the Dotti Potts experience.
